Ruffle pillow

I found this adorable pillow on one of my favorite blogs, House of Smiths. I just had to make one. The only thing I changed was keeping the edge of my ruffles unfinished and I love how it turned out!

Here is how I made my pillow...

I took a strip of material and selected the widest stitch on my machine(On House of Smiths blog she used a ruffler foot, but I don't have one so I improvised)  I sewed down the center of the material, like so.

Then, I pulled one strand of thread and scrunched up the strand of material and continued to pull to get the ruffle look I was going for.

I did this with 4 strands of fabric and then pinned them to the fabric that would be the actual pillow case.

Afterwards, I sewed down the center of each ruffle to attach to the fabric or pillow case.

I finished sewing up my pillow case by sewing along the sides and leaving a small opening so I could stuff the pillow or put in a pillow insert.  Here is my little pillow stuffer!
I hand sewed the corner opening and voila.....a darling little ruffle pillow!

It was very simple and love how it turned out that I think I might make another one to put in a different room!

  1. Great pillow. I love the way little things can change a whole room.
