Baby Shower Gift

I use to stress myself out thinking of what to get mom's to be and study out their registry list thinking what would be the most useful or helpful thing to get them.  Since becoming a mom and having had a baby shower, registry lists are great (don't get me wrong) but one of the best gifts I received at my first baby shower were receiving blankets that were homeade :)  They are so much bigger than the ones you buy at the store.  You can actually swaddle your baby in them for months instead of a couple of weeks.  So, now that is what I give as baby gifts.

All you have to do is buy a yard of light, flannel material.
Wash it of course!
Double roll the edges and press with a HOT iron.
Choose a fun stitch on your sewing machine.

Sew all the way around your blanket....
and voila a fantastic receiving blanket!

Here was my finished product with a taggie elephant that I made.

Binky Clip

Having to carry around a binky is all very new to me.  Grace, my first never took a binky.  She opted for her 2 fingers.  Addyson, my 3 month old LOVES her binky!  But, it is hard to remember where we put her binky and now she has started to spit it out, which isn't lovely when you are in a store!  So, I found this tutorial on how to make a binky clip.  I love that I can just make a bunch of different ribbons to match different outfits but only need 1 or 2 clips.  Genious, if you ask me :)

Ric-Rac Flower

I am a big fan of headbands for my girls. First, because they have very little hair when they are born, Second, because I never want them to be mistaken as a boy and Third, well its just too darn cute!  With my first, Grace, she never left the house without a headband on.  I was always making new headbands for her. This time around, with my second little lady, it is definitely a little harder to make sure she has a headband that matches all her outfits, but I am slowly building up the headband loot, again. I came up with this ric rac flower by making those cutie pinwheels with ribbon and thought why can't I do this with Ric Rac?  And, here is what I came up with...
I love it because it looks just like a flower and it naturally makes a flower shape as you coil it around.  I just LOVE it!
Here is the how to....
Dab a little glue from your hot glue gun on the end of the ric rac and start coiling around

Dab glue every once in awhile as you go around in a circle.
It will naturally make a cup shape.
When you are done coiling dab a little glue in the back to attach the end of your ric rac.

Add a cute button or accessory of your choice
Then attach (with hot glue) to some stretch lace and Voila!
Isn't it just darling?
